What programmes do you need in order to design and publish a website?
I use Macromedia Dreamweaver for the lessons. It is in my opinion the best programme to use as it has many excellent features. Once you have grasped the basics, you can go on to learn more advanced features, the website is : www.macromedia.com
To publish your website you need a file transfer programme. I use Terrapin ftp which is very easy to use and can be downloaded from their website for around $20, available at: www.tpin.com
You will also need a browser in order to check that your website looks okay. There are many: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera - I personally use IE6 but it's up to you
You will also need an imaging programme if you want to include photographs and buttons on your website. PhotoImpact is an excellent programme available online from the US and costs about $90 to download from: www.ulead.com - the latest version is PhotoImpact 10
