A collaborative, unique book by Sarah Bodman and Tom Sowden

Details: Made for the collection of Limfjordscentret, Doverodde, Denmark, and their themed exhibition for the Doverodde Book Arts Festival Ø - island

A cherry tree on a small island, dreams of all the other islands it might meet as it travels across the sea leaving a trail of island blossom in its wake.

Sarah Bodman is Senior Research Fellow for Artists' Books at the Centre for Fine Print Research, (CFPR)at the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK, where she runs projects investigating and promoting contemporary book arts.

Sarah is the editor of the Artist's Book Yearbook a biennial reference publication on contemporary book arts, and the editor of The Blue Notebook journal for artists’ books, published by Impact Press. Sarah is the author of Creating Artists’ Books (a handbook for A&C Black, UK and Watson-Guptill, New York, USA, 2nd edition published December 2007 (ISBN 978-0-7136-6509-3). Sarah also edits the Book Arts Newsletter

Her artists’ books include Flowers in Hotel Rooms Volumes I-IV, an ongoing series of books inspired by Richard Brautigan’s novel The Abortion; Viola, the story of a serial killer baker; After Fallout; Against Nature; Closure - a short story of the end of a love affair between a plane spotter and flower arranger (2009), How Do I Love Thee?, a collaboration with JP Willis which explores the lengths people will go to, to keep their loved ones close by (2009), and 2.43 made specially for Abigail Thomas’ Micro Pages project (2009).

Some other recent works include No Dutch Details, 2011(with Tom Sowden); Dinner and A Rose (with Nancy Campbell), 2010; An Exercise for Kurt Johannessen, 2010; A Place of Interest, 2010 (with Tom Sowden); Scott’s Flight: Migrating East, 2010 (with Tom Sowden).
